Self-Proclaimed Holiday

01Nov05

I’m declaring tomorrow Brainstorming Day. I like to reserve one day a week (if my schedule can manage it) to do something completely different. Usually it’s just time to devote on a certain project, but there are certain things that just need to be done without distraction, or are more productive if you don’t have to worry about anything else, or just makes other days a little less hectic.

Some weeks I have Work At Home Day (mixes up my routine a little), Email Day, Reading Day, Writing Day, and any other day I think would be interesting and valuable. Last week I had Work At Home/Email Day. Tomorrow should be interesting. I’ll be doing some focused brainstorming on some projects I’m working on, but otherwise, no rules. Just thoughts & capture, and see what comes out!

Self-proclaimed holidays are rather brilliant, if I do say so myself. More productivity, more excellent ideas, and a solid beginning to the plans needed to execute the ideas. I truly believe more people should step back, take an hour or two (you don’t need a whole day), and do something different. I think anyone would be really amazed at what they can do by clearing their heads and switching things up.
